INTERIM

I came • • •

An interim of intensity began with
strangeness, an exciting, engulfing
strangeness, that nurtured familiarity.

I go..

An interim, that was but a shadow of
time and that was all of time, is ended.

I shall remember . • .

— these lives, these days, these faces
— these components of me
— this interim of being

Dr. William Gordon Ross

DEDICATION

We humbly dedicate the CHIMES to Dr.
William Gordon Ross, scholar, author and
friend, who has given untiringly of himself
to us as students and as individuals.

and Atlas shrugged

An educator in the truest sense, Dr. Ross's
concern with and study of the potential and
worth of the person has resulted in his writing
of a book on this subject which he has dedi-
cated to Berea students.

surprising, warm, professorial wisdom

seventeen people packed in a room systematically solving world crises
the peculiar shocking thrill of realizing the practical application of
some bit of class learning

smoky fellowship
the reality of victory in one soul-
hurled, just-caught, extra-point

the oddity of pain in a collar-

FOUNDATION SCHOOL

DEDICATION

As we, the Senior Class of 1962, leave Berea Foundation, we will
remember Berea in many ways. The numerous friendships we have formed
here — friendships among both students and faculty — shall be dominant
among our memories. Our friendship with our Dean of Women will
especially be remembered. Because of her untiring work, encouraging
friendliness, patience, guidance, and leadership, we will remember her as an
administrator, a teacher, and a personal friend. In recognition of her
devoted service to the Foundation School, the Senior Class dedicates its
1962 CHIMES to JOANNE NICHOLSON.
